This term has been very busy for both Year 7 & 8 LEAP students with the upcoming Inquiry Learning Exhibition. We are now looking forward to celebrating our students’ inquiry learning and would like you to save the date to join us for the LEAP Inquiry Exhibition.
In Term 1, our students in Year 7 & 8 LEAP were actively engaged in their personal inquiry related to our theme ‘Stories of the Inquiry’ and were given opportunity to select topics from one of the key learning areas and linking them to the school values as the learning focus. The inquiry process is conducted in the spirit of personal and shared responsibility among students which involves them in identifying, investigating, and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems. The LEAP Inquiry Exhibition has several key purposes including the following:
In Terms 1 – 3, students started working on their Inquiry Topics through an ‘Inquiry Cycle’. As a starting point, students’ prior understanding was explored at the ‘Tuning In’ stage. Students were then invited to investigate the unit by formulating their own questions and looking at the various means or resources available to them to these questions. This was at ‘Finding out’ and ‘Sorting out’ stage, students researched their focus questions through observing, planning, and organising the information gathered.
Students will develop further by presenting and communicating their ideas in a creative, planned, and organised manner in the upcoming Exhibition, which will make up the ‘Going Further’ stage.
What have we been doing?
Students in Year 7 LEAP have been working in pairs on their inquiry project and Year 8 LEAP students are given the opportunity to investigate their inquiry individually. Each group will be presenting their findings using the various modes such as digital technology, charts, diagrams, reports, journals, and artefacts.
In celebrating our students’ learning, we would like to invite you to the LEAP Inquiry Exhibition as follows:
Please add the above date to your calendar, and we look forward to seeing you in the coming LEAP Inquiry Exhibition 2022.
