Our Senior School students started off the new term with their fortnightly assembly on the first day back last Monday, 11th April. Special Guest of the day was Mr Gary Chan from Bicycles for Humanity (B4H), a charity organisation 100% run by volunteers.
Gary presented the students with information about the wonderful work Bicycles for Humanity does on a volunteer-only basis and explained how they first collect second hand bikes which will then be fixed up, stored and shipped off to Africa where they benefit the local community. The containers also remain on site once shipped and are turned into a sales shop for the bikes – or in other cases, a classroom and a library.
It was wonderful to see some of our Senior students come to the front office at lunch time to enquire about how they, too, could become involved with B4H and volunteer their time.
