We had the opportunity to host a meet and greet with members of ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ Societies from leading universities last week. The objective of the event was to introduce our Year 12 students to available services/support/activities for Muslims at various universities, allowing students to be less nervous of the transition from Secondary ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ to university.
Our Seniors were able to meet students and ask questions about uni life, their student society and its work. Thank you to Mr Rauf for taking the initiative to organising this beneficial event.
This is what our Year 12 student Maryam Haq had to say about the afternoon:
"The ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ Society’s meet and greet was a really nice and beneficial opportunity for us to meet and talk with members of the ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ societies at various major universities (Monash, Melbourne, Latrobe and RMIT). It gave Year 12 students an idea of each university and the type of experiences we would have as part of the societies (making the idea of university a little less daunting!)
The members of all the societies were so welcoming and friendly. We all had a good time socialising and enjoying the refreshments but most importantly we left event not only informed but also welcomed to potential universities and the societies."
Given the engaging discussions and smiles, we would conclude that the session was very successful. We thank all the members of the university societies for attending and look forward to seeing them again next year, inShaAllah.
