The 2019 edition of the Art & Technology Exhibition was a huge success. Alhamdulillah. It is great to see the Al Ƶ community coming together to celebrate the students’ learning and achievement in Art & Technology.
Once again, congratulations to all 23 award winners for demonstrating the school values of excellence.
This year, being the Ƶ’s 10th year of operation sees the whole school community contributing towards creating a 10th Anniversary mosaic artwork. It was indeed a momentous occasion as students, teachers and parents lay tiles on the mosaic artwork.
On behalf of the Art & Technology department, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all staff who has played a role in contributing to the success of the exhibition. A big thank you to all parents, students and members of community for turning out in full force and participating actively in all the activities. Some staff actually went above and beyond their allocated time and I am deeply appreciative of this. There are too many people to acknowledge and I apologise that I cannot thank each and everyone personally:
Ƶ Leadership: Thanks for the great support and guidance in the planning and execution of the whole event.
Al Ƶ staff: Fantastic teamwork. Thank you for coming on board and helping out with all the activities.
Maintenance team and IT department: Such an extensive effort in preparing for the exhibition.
Parent & Friends Forum: Led by Ms Sarah Wills and her team of dedicated parents who formed a key part of the organising committee for this exhibition.
More importantly, my heartfelt thanks to the Art & Technology team, comprising of Ms Gulsen,Ms Stamatia, Mr Iszal, Mr Sevdet Bektash , Mr Bajram and Sabrija – for your never ending support and contributing to the success of the exhibition.
MEd (Curriculum & Teaching), PGDEd, BEng (Hons)
Suffian Amin is the Head of Art at Al Ƶ Ƶ. He began his teaching career in Singapore and taught GCSE Design & Technology (D&T). Prior to his appointment at Al Ƶ Ƶ, Suffian held the position of Year Head and Subject Head at the school.
Suffian is very passionate on design education and its role in promoting critical and creative thinking in students. He was actively involved in curriculum planning and professional development of D&T educators with Ministry of Education and Nanyang Technological University (National Institute of Education) in Singapore. In 2014, Suffian wrote a chapter, “The Nature of Intuition in Design” in a book “Disciplinary Intuitions and the Design of Learning Environment (Lim, 2014)”. In addition, he co-wrote a paper titled ‘Experiential Design – insights into its focus’ in 2011.
Suffian moved to Melbourne in 2014 in pursuit of a new challenge. He believes that education is a pivotal enabler for social mobility and that every child can learn. He is very happy to be part of the Al Ƶ community and looks forward to nurturing and moulding the bright and young minds in our school.
Suffian graduated with Master of Education specialising in Curriculum and Teaching, a Postgraduate Diploma in Education and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from Nanyang Technological University (Singapore).
