Seven of our dedicated Secondary students from VET Community Services teamed up with St Monica’s ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ for a remarkable community service initiative on 30th August 2023. Together, they spent four meaningful hours after school in the service of those in need.
These compassionate students had the privilege of utilising the commercial kitchen at St Monica's ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ. They rolled up their sleeves and engaged in various tasks, from preparation and cooking to ensuring everything was left spick and span.
Their collective efforts resulted in the creation of an impressive 350 fresh meals, including plain rice, Afghan chicken curry, and rice pudding. The prepared meals were donated to the Whittlesea Food Collective, an organisation committed to providing support to those facing hardship. The Whittlesea Food Collective focuses on producing and distributing fresh, nourishing meals free of cost to eligible residents in the City of Whittlesea. This noble endeavour is made possible through a collaboration between Whittlesea Community Connections and the Whittlesea Emergency Relief Network.
For our students, this activity served as an opportunity to connect with each other, apply their community service skills, and make a real difference in the lives of those less fortunate. It was a moment of learning, empathy, and unity.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to St Monica’s ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ for their invaluable partnership on this journey. We look forward to future collaborations, as together, we continue to contribute to the wellbeing of our community.
