The Year 9 students from our ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ recently undertook a five day education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The following is a list of the places we were able to visit with our students for various educational programs:
- Australian War Memorial
- Parliament House
- Old Parliament House
- National Museum of Australia
- Questacon
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
We would like to thank the Australian Government for their support. This was the first time our ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ had embarked on an interstate trip with our students.
Due to the positive educational impact, we are very much looking forward to taking our Year 9 students in early 2020 in sha Allah. We also have plans to take our Year 5/6 there next year as it ties in well with the curriculum at that stage but undertaking different educational programs.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Mr Chehade, Mr Sezgin, Mr Shukran, Mr Dar, Ms Esra and Ms Rahat for their tireless efforts in making this a rich and valuable experience, alhamdulillah.
