It’s Book Week again! A highlight on everyone’s annual calendar from students to parents and staff, we have welcomed Book Week in style with a bang when a flurry of colourful book characters have ascended into our Primary School yesterday morning to partake in the annual Book Character Parade.
Each year since 1945, the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) has brought children and books together across Australia through its annual Book Week. During this time, we celebrate books, authors and illustrators. This year’s official Book Week Theme "Dreaming with eyes open ..." has been embraced by each year level with a beautiful mural on display in our Primary facilities. The theme is inviting us to "step into your own story, dreaming with eyes open, listening to Country as the first storyteller and learning from friends who help you on your way".
The cheer joy and excitement of our students was equally palpable and infectious when they arrived to school in character, proudly displaying their creative, bold and beautiful costumes. It was amazing to see how many of them were dressed up and the efforts put in by our wonderful school community is to be applauded once more!
Students also enjoyed a special story time with different staff from across all departments and faculties of the ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ who had prepared a fun and highly engaging special story time for their young audience. Thank you to all staff who chose to participate in this activity and celebrate your love for books and reading with our students!
Today’s Tuesday also saw the start of the annual Scholastic Book Fair, held in our auditorium for the first time. The Book Fair is staying on site until next week’s Monday, 29 August. A reminder to please allow your child/children to bring in some cash, so they can purchase books and stationery items throughout this special week. We ask you to kindly place the money into a clear zip lock bag and label it with your child’s name and class.
