Helmets on, gears ready, and as for the riders, they were set to take on the challenge in Melbourne’s annual ‘Ride Around the Bay’ event.
14 staff members with an additional two students from Al ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ, cycled their way through Melbourne and over the West Gate Bridge in the iconic ‘Ride Around the Bay’ event on the 11th of October.
Staff members had been training for this event, with regular rides on weekends for several months prior to the event. A number of staff purchased their very first road bikes and have now adopted regular riding expeditions. All members cycled over 50km, starting from the Alexander Gardens and riding on the West Gate Bridge heading towards Altona, later returning back to the starting point via the same route. Yep! That means up the West Gate Bridge again.
Muhammed and Ibrahim Zeneli finished the ride in only 2 hours and 29 minutes, the fastest of the team, mashaAllah.
On the other hand, our very own ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ Principal Mr Houghton literally cycled 210km around the bay. He was on his bike for a total of 10 hours and 24 minutes. What a great achievement, mashaAllah.
Alhamdulillah, it was fantastic seeing staff and students engaging in a community event, motivating one another to make it through some of the challenging climbs, like up and over the West Gate Bridge twice.
Congratulations, MABROOK and WELL DONE to
