Al ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ celebrated Science Week with various exciting activites for both our Junior and Senior students this week. The 2017 Science Week theme was "Future Earth", with a focus on sustainability.
Junior School students enjoyed refreshing organic mango or berry smoothies, as well as learning how to "Bike 'n Blend" by using the energy of a cycling bicycle to operate a blender and make their own delicious and healthy smoothies.
Senior School students used the energy of riding bicycles to power electronic devices, with the challenge of who had the pedalling power to generate enough electricity to power several devices. Students also participated in a science quiz. The finals will be running on next Monday, 21 August 2017.
Our staff also enjoyed an organic afternoon tea while testing their science knowledge.
Other activities including growing vegetables and refashioning old clothes. The Science Department hopes that students have learnt about alternative and renewable energy and how to change our habits to more sustainable ways of life that can protect our future earth.
