The Art Department of the ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ is truly proud and honoured to participate in this year’s Whittlesea Community Festival, held at Whittlesea Public Gardens in Lalor last Sunday, 19 March 2017. The theme for this year was "Weaving Whittlesea".
Al ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ was one of ten schools that contributed to the artworks display. Our Year 2 and Year 6 students created a thread collage and weaving works that represents their culture. Students relay a strong message of unity and multi-culturalism in their tapestry artwork symbolising the richness of different groups of people inter-weaving together as one despite differences in faith, culture and personalities.
It has been indeed heartwarming to hear positive feedback on how our students incorporated culture in their artwork. A big thank you to all the teachers and students who participated in this programme and we look forward to contributing again in next year’s edition of the Whittlesea Community Festival.
