Our Year 5/6 Girls team participated in the the AFL Friendly Gala Day, hosted by Merrymede ¾ÞÈéÊÓƵ as part of School Sports Victoria (SSV). Team Captain Sammar Ayoubi from Year 6A kindly provided us with the following recount of her team's experience:
On Friday, 27 October our Year 5/6 girls team played 5 friendly matches against 5 different schools.
Mashallah, the girls were fantastic.
We won 2 games, lost one and drew two more. The first round, we didn’t play that good but we managed to man up in the other 4 rounds. For me, our star player for kicking goals was Ammal Mohamed in Year 6A. One of our players had the best tackle against someone from another school - her name is Khadeejah Islam, also from Year 6A.
It was a really good experience and a very fun one. InShAllah everyone enjoyed it. A thank you to the Sports Department for all your help, and a special thanks to Mr Saleh who helped us a lot especially by coaching us and giving us advice and to Ms Layal even though she couldn’t come she helped the grade 5 and 6 girls train. I hope everyone had a wonderful experience and good luck in the future to the Year 5 girls team.
